Former Minister Olu Agunloye Faces EFCC Fraud Charges Related To The Mambilla Hydropower Project Scandal.

 The former Minister of Power and Steel, Mr. Olu Agunloye, has been charged with fraud by the  EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) before Federal High Court Judge Donatus Okorowo.


In relation to a $6 billion power scam involving the Mambilla hydropower project, the EFCC proclaimed him wanted. He has been linked to the Mambilla power project scandal, particularly by Obasanjo, who claimed he fraudulently awarded the project without the Federal Executive Council's permission.

After appearing before the court on Wednesday, Agunloye, a Minister during the Obasanjo administration, pleaded not guilty to the charges read against him and has denied any misconduct related to the project stating that Obasanjo was only fabricating material to harm him. He was detained in Kuje Correctional Center by the judge, awaiting the consideration of his bail application.

In a statement released on December 22, 2023, Agunloye, through his friend Oluwafisan Bankale, stated that all those involved in this ought to be named in public and held accountable. See a screenshot of the statement below:
