Wike Advises Chairmen Of The FCT Councils To Stay In Their Communities...

The nation's capital city's area council chairmen have received advice from Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to remain within their boundaries and foster community development.

The warning was delivered by the former governor of Rivers State on Wednesday in Yangoji, at the groundbreaking ceremony for an 11-kilometer rural road that would connect the Kwali Area Council settlements of Sukuku Ebo and Yangoji.

“Continue to stay at home. Don’t come to the city regularly. Stay there and do the work. My own is to support you. If you don’t do well for rural communities, you will create problems for the city,” he said.

The Minister added that to promote development in rural regions, the FCT Administration is prepared to collaborate with the chairmen of FCT area councils.

Wike specifically stated that the period of unfinished projects was ending and pledged to finish all unfinished projects in the Abaji and other area councils.

He remarked: “We are touching rural areas to renew their hope because they have suffered years of abandonment. This is your time to benefit. If we don’t take care of rural areas, then we have failed as a government.”
