Foiled Robbery Turned Murder Plot: How Bauchi State Police's Intelligence Saved Lives!

An attempted robbery that would have resulted in culpable homicide has been thwarted by the State Intelligence Department (SID) affiliated with the Bauchi State Police Command.

In connection with an attempted robbery, the police also detained Mustapha Tahiti, a 35-year-old medical recorder employed at the Maternity Clinic in Kofar Ran, Bauchi City.

Following a Police crime bulletin issued by PPRO SP Ahmed Wakili, the suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday, March 6, as a result of reliable information that the Department had at its disposal.

While the suspect was plotting the murder of his male relative and his wife, the police apprehended him.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to the alleged crime and said he bought an insecticide chemical and put it in a syringe that would have been forced into the victims' bodies.

He added that if he had killed the couple, he would have taken their possessions with him.

The pesticide-filled syringe was found and brought in as an exhibit. After a police inquiry, it was discovered that the suspect harbored resentment towards the victim for marrying his late elder brother's wife, whom he longed to wed.

The culprit admitted during questioning that he had repeatedly advised the victim not to wed the widow, but he had refused.

After the covert investigation was concluded, Commissioner of Police Auwal Mohammed ordered that the suspect be tried in court.

He gave the good people of Bauchi State assurances about his dedication to reducing crime and criminality through a variety of strategies, one of which was the increase of intelligence tentacles within the state.
