13 Dead And 2 Injured In Koggi Accident.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said on Monday that 13 people had died and two more had been injured in a horrific traffic accident in Kogi State.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, a commercial bus and a cement truck collided near Obajana Market on the Obajana-Lokoja Road in the Lokoja Local Government Area of the State, resulting in a deadly occurrence.Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, the FRSC Sector Commander for Kogi State, gave the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) a full account of the unfortunate series of events. Oyedeji stated that a commercial bus from Sharon was parked behind another truck close to the market area, enabling passengers to shop, when the cement truck's brakes failed and it collided with the stationary bus from behind. Nearly every person on board perished in the instantaneous inferno that engulfed the bus as a result of the tragic impact.
“The unfortunate incident led to the immediate ignition of a fire that consumed the bus, two trucks, and a motorcycle,” He added.
He went on to say that at the time of the tragedy, the bus was travelling from the southern region of the nation to Abuja.
Rescue efforts were impeded by the fire's ferocity, even with the prompt response by FRSC troops, police officers, and Red Cross Nigeria.
Oyedeji said, "Our personnel...couldn't save the situation due to the fierceness of the fire." The injured were sent to Fisayo Hospital in Obajana for emergency medical attention, while the burned remains of the deceased were removed from the scene.
A mass burial may be necessary until the victims' relatives come forward, the sector commander said, expressing concerns over Kogi State hospitals' refusal to accept the deceased's remains.

In order to prevent traffic accidents, he suggested that drivers always make sure everything in their cars is in working order before leaving on a trip.
