3 Kidnappers In Edo State, Sentenced To Death By Hanging.
Three people have been sentenced to death by hanging by Justice Irele-Ifijeh of the Edo State High Court in Benin City for the armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder of one Ephraim Akhere.
According to the DAILY POST, the three prisoners, Solomon Abuede, James Monday, and Kelvin Edward, were found guilty of armed robbery, kidnapping, and the murder of Ephraim Akhere at the Esan West Local Government Area headquarters in Ekpoma, Edo State's Ihumudumun quarters.Judge Ifijeh also handed down a life sentence to Oviasogie Sunday, popularly known as Alhaji, of Kano for obtaining an Infinity Jeep bearing the license plate EFR 218 FB, which belonged to the late Ephraim and was taken after his murder.
The six defendants, including the prisoners, were arraigned before Justice Irele-Ifijeh on a six-count accusation of armed robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property under suit number HEK/25c/24.
However, due to a lack of proof connecting David Williams and Monday Ozomo to the armed robbery and kidnapping, the court dismissed the cases against the other two suspects.
According to Justice Ifijeh's ruling, the abductors used a motorbike equipped with lethal weapons to abduct their victims. They then requested Sandra, Ephraim, and the driver to take a back seat and bury their heads while Solomon assumed control of the driver's seat.

The judge claimed that following that, two of the prisoners remained in the car with their victims while the other four drove to the bank.
She continued by saying that the other used Ephraim's ATM card to visit the bank and take money out of his account.
Following the withdrawal, she conjectured, the prisoners were rumoured to have been driven to an incomplete structure, where Solomon Abuede, one of them, threw Ephraim into a well after giving him rat poison to take. The girl was given the choice to either leap into the well or consume the rat poison.

According to the judge, Solomon, the one who supplied the rat poison, later saved the girl's life but instead sexually assaulted her.
The court also stated that Monday Ozomo took the Infinity Jeep and two other stolen cars to Kano, where Oviasogie paid N420,000 for the Infinity Jeep out of the N500,000 that was agreed upon. Monday was allegedly the person who supplied the gun used for the operation.
The evidence of Sandra, a prosecution witness who was in the same vehicle as the late Ephraim and was kidnapped, supported the confessional statements of Solomon Abuede, James Monday, and Kelvin Edward that they took part in the armed robbery, according to Justice Irele-Ifijeh's 91-page ruling.
