Abuja Discriminatory Chinese Supermarket Respond To FCCPC Summons.

The proprietors of a Chinese store in Abuja were questioned by agents of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) on Wednesday, April 24, about suspected discriminatory actions directed at Nigerians.

Even as the probe went on, FCCPC declared in an update posted on its X account that its agents inspected the plant. The statement:

‘’Owners of the Abuja Chinese Supermarket facing allegations of discriminatory practices responded to our summons today to answer questions regarding the allegations. FCCPC operatives have conducted an inspection of the facility.”

On Monday, April 22, the Chinese supermarket was closed by the FCCPC due to allegations of prejudice against Nigerians. The supermarket's owners were then summoned by the Commission for allegedly barring the access of Nigerians in order to discriminate against them.

The supermarket was allegedly openly operated just to serve Chinese citizens. It is situated at the China General Chamber of Commerce along Umaru Musa Yar'Adua Road in the Federal Capital Territory. After being turned away by the security guards, a Nigerian who was trying to buy something from the storm called the business out on the internet.
