Iranian Goalkeeper Who Hugged A Fan, Suspended For Breaking Islamic Law About Interacting With The Opposite Sex.

The embrace of a female fan whose headscarf had dropped because it was 'unprofessional' and violated Islamic norms regarding interaction with the opposite sex has resulted in an Iranian goalie's fine and one-match suspension.

When Hossein Hosseini, the custodian for Esteghlal, one of the best clubs in Iran, embraced a fan who had made her way to the edge of the pitch, the Iranian football federation shoved him.

Since the 1979 revolution in Iran, headscarves, or hijabs, have become mandatory for women, imposing a practice that many Muslim women worldwide believe should be a matter of choice.

Video captures the fan being confronted by security as she entered the pitch with her hair uncovered following the detachment of her headscarf.
