Kogi Car Accident Kills 14 And Leaves 13 Injured!

 An accident at the Aloma community in Kogi State's Ofu Local Government Area claimed the lives of fourteen people. Thirteen further individuals managed to escape the collision with varied levels of injuries.


A Toyota Hiace bus that was travelling to the southern region of the nation and a Toyota Sienna bus that was travelling from Port Harcourt towards Abuja were both involved in the accident that happened on Sunday, April 21.

According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy happened when two commercial Toyota buses collided head-on.

“The 13 persons including the driver of the Hiace Bus were completely roasted by the fire that engulfed it immediately after the head-on coalition with the Sienna bus.

“But one out of the four surviving persons in the bus died in hospital from the burns suffered bringing the number to 14 that died.”

He continued by saying that all ten of the passengers on the Sienna Bus were hospitalized after suffering serious injuries. He mentioned that the villagers swiftly arrived at the accident site and saved the injured persons.

“It’s because of their timely intervention that the Sienna bus did not get burnt as well.”

He attributed the collision to speeding and potholes near Government Science Secondary School in Aloma on a bend.

He claimed that the driver of the Sienna bus, whose two legs were apparently severely wounded, took three hours for rescuers to extract.

When contacted, Sector Commander Samuel Oyediji of the FRSC acknowledged the event but stated he had not yet received any details.

He added that “I’m yet to be briefed by the unit commander in that axis of the true picture of the accident.”
