Atiku Says He Will Continue To Run For Presidency, As Long As He Is Healthy.

Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president of Nigeria, says he will continue to run for the presidency as long as he is healthy.

In an interview with Voice of America Hausa service in Abuja, he made this statement.

By the time of the next presidential election in 2027, Atiku, who ran as the PDP's nominee in 2023, will be 81 years old.

Atiku stated during the interview “Of course, I will keep contesting again and again as long as I am alive and healthy.''

Although Atiku has made six attempts to win the presidency, he has only appeared on ballots three times: in 2007; in 2019; and in 2023.

The fact that previous US President Abraham Lincoln did not receive the presidential vote on his first try, according to Atiku, gives him comfort.

“Even the former US President Abraham Lincoln contested seven times before finally winning. However, given the current state of the PDP, it is clear that a single-handed effort will not suffice to win the election. Strong support and collaboration with other parties are required.” He stated.
