How Sammy Teusch Killed Himself Over Recurring Bullying In School!

Sammy Teusch, a resident of Greenfield, Indiana, committed suicide on May 5. His family claims he was being tormented right up until the evening of his death. According to the boy's relatives, he had been teased mercilessly at school because of his glasses and teeth.

Funeral rites for the boy from Indiana who had "the best smile" and loved fishing were held on Wednesday, May 15, as his distraught parents tried to figure out why their son had taken his own life.

Sammy's parents said that during his time in the fourth grade at Greenfield Intermediate School, he was the target of bullying from his peers.

According to his relatives, he committed suicide in his bedroom on May 5.

"Knew no stranger, meant no harm to anyone, never sat still, had the biggest heart along with the best smile," read Sammy's online obituary. That was how he was remembered. Samuel "had big plans for the future."

The father of the boy, Sam Teusch, stated that he and his spouse had made twenty calls to the school to report that Sammy was being physically and emotionally harassed there and that he had just been beaten up on a school bus and had his spectacles smashed.

Speaking with  WTHR-TV, Sam Teusch said; "They were making fun of him for his glasses in the beginning, then on to make fun of his teeth. It went on for a long time. They knew this was going on (school officials)."

In a statement, Greenfield-Central Community Schools stated that the district and the Greenfield Police Department are looking into the tragedy.

"The death of Samuel Teusch is tragic, and it has left our school corporation and larger community in tremendous grief. Our hearts pour out to the family at this time," the statement said. Our staff in Greenfield-Central has worked with the Teusch family quite a bit over the last 18 months. Contact between school personnel and the parents was frequent. The parents did report the manner of death as a suicide, and we are investigating their claims related to bullying.

While the investigation continues, we are primarily focusing our resources on meeting the immediate needs of the students we serve in Greenfield-Central Schools," they said.

In a statement, Greenfield police also mentioned that Sammy's death was being looked into. " Parents, now is the time to talk to your kids, there shouldn’t be anything in their lives you don’t know about. School, homework, sports, friends, every aspect of their lives. The more conversations you have about everyday life, the more comfortable they will be talking about the hard stuff," the police said.

The parents of Sammy claim that the school ought to have taken more precautions to keep their son safe. According to his father, who spoke to WTHR-TV, his abuse extended outside the classroom and appeared on social media, where students made threats against him.

Students wrote, "I'm going to beat you up," in their messages. "When you get to school, I'm going to beat you up," Sam Teusch informed the station.

The message would always say "mean things about his (mother), which would really, really set him off," the father added.

On a Sunday morning, Sam Teusch found Sammy's body inside his son's bedroom. "I held him in my arms. I did the thing no father should ever have to do. And anytime I close my eyes, it's all I can see," he said.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page in order to assist with expenses. Donations have surpassed the fund's target of $30,000 as of Wednesday, coming close to $37,000.

According to the campaign page: "Sammy was the best kid with a wonderful personality. He was smart, funny, charming and deeply empathetic. He brightened the lives of anyone he encountered and was the life of the party. He unexpectedly ended his time here on earth, Sunday May 5th 2024, as a result of bullying."
