Imams In Niger State, Demands An Apology From The Minister Of Women Affairs... And Her Dismissal.
Imams in Niger state have demanded the immediate removal of Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, the minister of women's affairs, for suing Speaker Abdulmalik Sarkindaji of the Niger state assembly and petitioning the Inspector General of Police over his proposal to fund the marriages of 100 orphan girls.
Following an urgent meeting on Wednesday, May 15, the Imams made accusations against the minister alleging that he had threatened the speaker. They also threatened to sue her if she didn't submit an apology within seven days.
The Islamic clerics claim that the minister is unable to hold her position because they have blackmailed her for claiming that they are attempting to force little girls into marriage.
