Two people have been taken into custody by Osun State Command agents of the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA): Kareem Alamu, 40, and his accomplice, Adeyemi Saheed, 33.

Nnamdi W. Chidi, the Osun NDLEA Commander, said in a statement that the two were detained for allegedly possessing drugs.

In a statement released on Wednesday and provided to DAILY POST, the spokesperson, Charles Odigie, stated that the two were apprehended independently by the anti-drug agency on Monday, May 13, 2024.

The statement read: “On Monday, May 13, 2024, a team of operatives led by SN Falore Ayoola, during motorised patrol along Ode-Omu/Osogbo Road, intercepted a commercial ash-coloured Toyota Avensis Wagon car with Reg No SMK 131 CX and recovered a consignment containing 9 block-like wraps of cannabis sativa, which weighed 4.7kg.

The driver, Kazeem Alamu ‘M’ 40 years old, claimed it was a waybill meant to be delivered to someone in Osogbo.

Further search of the vehicle led to the recovery of another consignment containing another 26.5gms of cannabis sativa and 6.5gms of cocaine.

A follow-up operation was initiated and it led to the arrest of one Adeyemi Saheed ‘M’ 33 years, who came with an unregistered gold colored Toyota Corolla to collect the consignment containing 26.5gms of cannabis and 6.5gms of cocaine. Search on the Toyota Corolla he brought led to the recovery of 1.5gms of cocaine.”

Adeyemi Saheed is a significant crack cocaine distributor in the state, according to Chidi, who also mentioned that he will be charged shortly.

In addition, he applauded the work of his officers and issued a warning to drug dealers and couriers, telling them to leave the state or face arrest and legal action.
