28 People Were Trapped On An Inverted Amusement Park Ride For Close to 30 minutes.

Following an Oregon theme park ride that left them upside down for more than 20 minutes, at least 28 people are now recuperating.

The AtmosFEAR ride at Portland's Oaks Amusement Park held 28 riders over the weekend. At approximately 2:55 p.m. on Friday, the ride halted, hanging the riders upside down in its "apex position," according to a statement from the park.

AtmosFEAR is a rollercoaster that sends riders spinning in the air on a loop. The amusement park claims that the ride workers started "emergency procedures" and dialed 911. AtmosFEAR may run in 180 or 360 degrees.

About 3:20 p.m., according to the park, first responders, including Portland Fire & Rescue, arrived on the site. All of the riders were removed from the ride and brought back to the ground safely in a matter of minutes.
