Alleged Expenditure of N244 Million on Tyres by Aso Rock in a Single Day.
According to Daily Trust's findings, the State House allegedly spent a staggering N244,654,350 on the purchase and delivery of tyres in a single day.
Based on an examination of information obtained from GovSpend, a website that tracks Presidential Villa expenses, the State House paid for an unknown number of bulletproof tyres and Westlake tyres the week President Bola Tinubu took office.Payments of N200,583,390, N38,070,000, and N6,000,960 were made for these products on May 21, 2024, according to the documents.
According to the records, N200,583,390 and N38,070,000 were paid in two different transactions for the purchase and supply of tyres (without a set number) for bulletproof cars and five additional armoured bulletproof tyres to Obi-Wealth Enterprises Nigeria Limited (RC-640684).
The journal suggests a brief check of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) website indicated that the business is no longer in operation.
The remaining portion of the supply of an unidentified quantity of Westlake tyres (315/80R22) for N6,000,960 was managed by Hommy & Fay Investments Limited, which is active on the CAC site.
Less than twenty-four hours had passed since Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, apologised to Nigerians for the suffering the country was experiencing.
Speaking at a ministerial sectoral briefing, he said that despite inflation and the currency crisis impeding economic growth, the Tinubu-led government's objectives were on course.
