FCT Police and Military Thwart Armed Gang's Attack on Abaji Police Headquarters and First Bank.

This morning, June 14, men from the FCT police command and the military stopped a gang of fifteen armed individuals from attacking the Abaji Divisional Police headquarters and the First Bank PLC in Abaji simultaneously. The militants used dynamites in an effort to loot the bank.

Following an intense gunfight in which the armed robbers were forced to flee with varying degrees of bullet wounds, the security forces were able to apprehend three suspects: Muhammad Aminu, 25, of Abaji, who had severe bullet wounds; Usman (unknown surname), who was believed to be the gang leader Nuhu Musa, 41'm' of Kogi State; and a suspect who had not yet been identified, who was set ablaze at the scene by an enraged crowd after the security forces had neutralized him.

After being shot during the gunfight, the gang boss and one police officer were taken to the hospital, where the attending physician pronounced them dead and treated the others.

Confirming the incident, the command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, states that although a search operation is still underway to capture suspects who are fleeing and have been shot, the commissioner of police for the Federal Capital Territory, CP Benneth C. Igweh, praises the success of the coordinated effort and reiterates the command's unwavering commitment to making sure that the FCT stays difficult for criminals to operate in, emphasizing that the safety of the residents of the FCT is non-negotiable.
