Lifeboat Crews Save 80 Migrants from Overturned Boat in the English Channel.

A boat overturned in the English Channel that was carrying about 80 migrants and three children.

Luckily, five miles off the coast of Kent this morning, June 6, lifeboat and coastguard crews rescued them from the water.

It is unknown if anyone will need to be sent to the hospital as there have not been any deaths to date.

Children are thought to have made up three of the individuals in the water.

Dover and Walmer lifeboats as well as a coast guard helicopter were sent to assist in the rescue.

The support ship Taku is there, as well as the Border Force boats Defender and Ranger.

In the past week, 297 migrants have arrived on five different vessels. This comprises 234 on four boats on June 4 and 63 on one boat on June 3.

In May of this year alone, 711 individuals crossed the border in perilous boats to reach the UK, setting a record for the month. Ever since the government signed the Rwanda pact more than two years ago, about 80,000 migrants have arrived in the UK.
