Nigeria Customs Service Kwara State Command Sets New Record in Revenue and Seizures for Early 2024.

Between January and May of 2024, the Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara State command, generated and remitted more than N10b.

This was revealed during a news conference on Thursday at the command's headquarters in Ilorin by Customs Area Comptroller Faith Ojeifo.

As per his statement: "A comparative review of the preceding year 2023, indicates that the command surpassed what was collected in the same period last year with over N2.885b, representing 40.41 percent."

Faith also revealed that 21 reported seizures of various illegal items occurred during the review period.

With a total duty paid value of N35,416,140, they consist of 1,055 pieces of used tyres, 164 jerry cans of petrol, 507 bags of foreign rice, and one unit of used cars.

In order to aid persons impacted by particular crises or difficulties, the command also contributed relief supplies to the Kwara State Ministry of Social Development.

“We are aware that the ministry is not a revenue-generating one, and only benefits from monthly allocations from the state government and that is why we are recognizing the tireless efforts of the ministry in serving the less privileged, vulnerable and the disabled in the society,” he stated.
