Anambra Police Detain 200 Suspected Criminals and Seize Ammunition.

According to Commissioner Mr. Nnaghe Itam, the Anambra State Police Command has made significant progress in the last two months, arresting 200 suspected offenders. During this period, the command's personnel retrieved roughly 1,644 rounds of ammunition. The detainees include suspected cult members, car snatchers, kidnappers, and small-time robbers.
“I am putting in place operational strategies to ensure that within 10 minutes after a crime is reported, a response team will storm the scene. Gov Chukwuma Soludo has been supportive; sister security agencies, including the state security services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have also supported us. The local vigilant groups have also been supportive. We are all working together,” he said.

Emphasizing the importance of community involvement, he mentioned that people in Anambra are providing valuable information to help in the battle against crime. He has been in contact with key stakeholders such as community leaders, religious leaders, and traditional rulers.

To prevent social conflicts, he added, "I have also asked traditional rulers to redefine any of their cultural practices that encroach on fundamental human rights." He issued a warning, stating that the state will not tolerate violence, cultism, voodoo practices, land grabbing, or the violation of people's freedoms. He advised anyone wishing to jeopardize the state's peace to reconsider, as the police leadership would oppose such unlawful acts.
