APC National Chairman and Others to Appear in Court Over Allegations of Bribery and Fund Diversion.

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his wife Hafsat, and six other party members are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday to answer allegations of bribery, diversion, and theft of funds totaling billions of naira.
The Kano State Government filed the lawsuit in an attempt to reclaim the allegedly misappropriated monies. This comes after the parties' solicitors argued in-depth, leading to a court order to serve the respondents with a notice of trial via alternative means.

On June 5, 2024, the Kano State High Court issued an order directing the seven respondents in the criminal matter to be served by substituted service through advertisements in two national dailies. According to DAILY POST, advertisements in The Nation and Daily Trust publications suggest that the service was performed on June 6, 2024.

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the first respondent in the lawsuit, his wife Hafsat, the second respondent, and other parties charged with bribery, diversion, and theft of funds are among the respondents in the case. The other respondents listed are Lesage General Enterprises (8th respondent), Lamash Properties Limited (6th respondent), Jibrilla Muhammad (5th respondent), Abubakar Bawuro (3rd respondent), and Safari Textiles Ltd (7th respondent).

Barrister Nuraini Jimoh, SAN, defended the sixth respondent in court. The order was granted by Justice Amina Adamu, with the court presided over by Zahradeen Kofar-Mata, the state government's attorney representing Ya'u Adamu, Esq., the lead prosecution attorney.

Judge Adamu ordered the parties to submit their fiats to the court and postponed the matter until July 11, 2024, for a hearing.
