Kamala Harris Raises $81 Million in 24 Hours Following Biden's Reelection Decision.

In the first 24 hours following President Biden's announcement that he will not run for reelection and his endorsement of US Vice President Kamala Harris, she raised an unprecedented $81 million for her presidential campaign. Over 880,000 donors made contributions to the Democratic National Committee, Harris' campaign, and joint fundraising organizations, according to Harris' campaign.
A spokesperson for the Harris campaign, Kevin Munoz, said in a statement, "The historic outpouring of support for Vice President Harris represents exactly the kind of grassroots energy and enthusiasm that wins elections. Already, we are seeing a broad and diverse coalition come together to support our critical work of talking to the voters that will decide this election.” Munoz added, “Donald Trump is terrified because he knows his divisive, unpopular agenda can’t stand up to the Vice President’s record and vision for the American people.”

In the 2024 campaign, it is the biggest 24-hour total that any side has disclosed. Funds raised for Harris's new presidential campaign were transferred from the Biden-Harris ticket. As of June 30, the Federal Election Commission reported that the ticket had raised $296 million, while Trump had only raised $221 million.

Harris recognized the "rollercoaster" of the past few weeks while expressing confidence in her new campaign staff when speaking to staff members in Wilmington, Delaware. “It is my intention to go out and earn this nomination and to win,” she said. In addition, she pledged to “unite our Democratic Party, to unite our nation, and to win this election.”
