University Staff Protest Nonpayment of Salaries.

Protesting the nonpayment of their four-month salaries, members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) have congregated at Unity Fountain in Abuja.

NASU General Secretary Comrade Peters Adeyemi and SSANU President Mohammed Aruna Ibrahim are spearheading the demonstration. The two unions are upset that only members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) received payment, while SSANU and NASU members did not, despite the President's order that the four-month arrears be paid.

There was a little drama at Unity Fountain when the demonstrators were stopped from leaving the meeting spot by stern-looking security guards.
