Adamawa State Starts Paying the Newly Implemented Minimum Salary of N70,000

The Adamawa State Government has begun paying its employees the minimum wage of N70,000.

The salary for this month was disbursed on Friday, August 23, which is the typical payment day for employees under the state government payroll. The N70,000 minimum wage paid on Friday fulfills Governor Ahmadu Fintiri's pledge that the new rate would take effect at the start of this month.

One civil servant confirmed the news to DAILY POST, stating, “I can confirm to you that the salary increase has been effected, and I received it.” Earlier this week, on Monday, August 19, Governor Fintiri assured visiting labor leaders that the new minimum wage would likely be paid for August.

The state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Emmanuel Fashe, later revealed this to reporters following a meeting held behind closed doors at the Government House Yola, where Fintiri provided the assurance.

However, Fashe also stated that while state government employees would start receiving the increased minimum salary this month, local government employees would have to wait until September 2024.
