Azman Air Suspends Operations and Places Employees on Unpaid Leave

Azman Air, a Nigerian airline, has suspended its operations and placed all of its employees on mandatory, unpaid leave. This decision was confirmed by Nurudeen Aliyu, the Public Relations Officer at Azman Air, on Monday.
According to Aliyu, the suspension is due to all of the airline's aircraft being under maintenance. He mentioned that two aircraft are currently being serviced, while three are scheduled for a C-check. The airline expects to resume domestic operations in October 2024.

“The overhead costs are substantial, prompting the management to temporarily halt company operations,” Aliyu explained.

A memo dated August 3, 2023, and signed by Magaji Mohammed Misau, the Human Resources Manager, informed staff that only eight senior employees would be exempt from the unpaid leave. The "Placement Of Leave Without Pay" circular stated: “As you are aware, our domestic operations have been suspended temporarily due to aircraft maintenance and C-checks, with staff placed on Leave Without Pay effective August 1, 2023.”
