Johann Rupert Overtakes Aliko Dangote as Africa's Richest Person

Aliko Dangote is no longer Africa's richest person; that title now belongs to South Africa's Johann Rupert.

According to Bloomberg, Rupert is now the 154th richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $13.65 billion.

As of Friday, August 2, 2024, Dangote is the 156th richest person in the world with a net worth of $13.6 billion, around $50 million less than Rupert's wealth. Dangote was born in Kano.

Russell's fortune increased by $1.21 billion between January and August of 2024. Nevertheless, because the Naira lost so much value, Dangote's fortune fell significantly.

The largest luxury watchmaker in the world and a publicly traded corporation that produces and markets high-end goods, Cie Financière Richemont, is the primary source of Rupert's riches.

However, Dangote's 86% ownership in Dangote Cement, which is traded on the stock market, accounts for the majority of his wealth.
