Medical and Dental Students Abducted by Gunmen in Benue State

Around twenty medical and dental students, as well as a house officer, were abducted by gunmen in Benue State. The students were traveling to Enugu for the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS).

They were ambushed by gunmen in the Otukpo area of the state at around 5:30 p.m. The students were reportedly from the Universities of Maiduguri and Jos.

SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, verified the event and stated that the kidnapping was under investigation. She said, "Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing."
