Ohio Church Members Report Virgin Mary Statue "Blinking"

A statue of the Virgin Mary was reportedly seen "blinking" by astonished worshippers in Ohio, USA. The unusual event was captured on video by church members during the statue's tour.

Witnesses at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist claimed that the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima seemed to close and open its eyes, prompting speculation about its miraculous nature. The statue, which was consecrated by Pope Paul VI in May 1967 and gifted to the UK in 1968, is known for its significance in religious contexts.

Photographs taken with the statue show what some believe to be blinking eyes. Katie Moran, who posted the pictures on social media, described her reaction: “I took one picture and thought, 'that's really nice,' but when I took another, the eyes were closed. I was amazed!” Others, like Connie Lipkat, also reported seeing the statue's eyes closed and opened, interpreting it as a miracle.

The statue is also thought to possess mystical healing powers, with stories of individuals claiming relief from ailments such as cancer and infertility. Moran, the statue's caretaker, commented on the significance of the reports: “For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't, no proof is possible. It's faith, and I believe.”

Despite the positive reactions, the flickering statue has sparked some skepticism online.
