President Tinubu Approves New Directors General for DSS and NIA

President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of new directors general for the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
According to a statement released on Monday night by Ajuri Ngelale, the spokesperson for the President, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been named the new Director-General of the NIA.

Additionally, Yusuf Bichi has resigned from his position as the DSS's Director-General, and Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has taken over as the new Director-General of the DSS.

Ambassador Mohammed has had a distinguished career in the diplomatic service since joining the NIA in 1995. Ngelale noted that Mohammed has served in various capacities, leading to his promotion to Director and appointment as the head of the Nigerian mission in Libya.

“The 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, had served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House, Abuja,” Ngelale added.

The new DSS Director-General, Adeola Ajayi, rose through the ranks to attain his current post of Assistant Director-General of the Service. He has served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi at various times.

The appointments follow the resignations of the outgoing heads of the DSS and NIA.

President Tinubu expects that the new security chiefs will work diligently to reposition the two intelligence agencies for better results. He has charged them with using their experience to tackle the security challenges facing the country through enhanced collaboration with sister agencies and close alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

“The President thanks the outgoing Directors-General of the two pivotal intelligence agencies for their services to the nation and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” Ngelale concluded.
