Tragic Loss of Life in Gumi Local Government Area Due to Invasion
In the Kali community of Gumi Local Government Area, Zamfara State, approximately 20 people have tragically died while fleeing an attack by bandits.
An anonymous local reported that the bandits launched their attack on the village last Sunday at 1:00 pm. The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons and arriving on motorcycles, caused panic among the villagers. In their attempt to escape, many were forced to flee by boat.
According to the report, the overcrowded boat capsized along the Birnin Magaji River, resulting in the drowning of 20 villagers. Additionally, three bodies were discovered at the Gadar Gummi River, five at the Falale River, and four at the Birnin Magaji River.
The bandits also terrorized other communities within the Gummi Local Government Area, including Kwammaka, Kwammaka Jibi, Kwammaka Mai Katsina, Kallin, and Kazura.
As of now, the police have not released a statement regarding the incident.
