USA to Face Nigeria in Paris Olympics Women’s Basketball Quarter-Finals

On Wednesday, August 7, the USA and Nigeria will play in the women's basketball quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics.

Nigeria, the first country in Africa to reach the final eight of an Olympic basketball competition—both for men and women—will now face the United States, the current champions who have won seven consecutive championships, after the Olympic committee's draw on Sunday.

On Sunday, the USA overcame Germany 87-68, while Nigeria upset Canada 79-70.

Visiting countries Germany will be played by France, the bronze medal winners at the Tokyo Games three years prior. Belgium will play Spain, and Australia will play Serbia.
