Attempted Attack on Lawmaker Foiled by Security Personnel

An attempted attack on Hon. Okojie, a lawmaker, was thwarted by his security personnel after armed individuals broke into his residence. The suspects, who were allegedly disguised as police officers, arrived in a Lexus GX 470 with the license plate PHC 253 FF, registered in Rivers State.

According to a statement, the intruders claimed to have an appointment with the lawmaker and proceeded to the living room. However, quick intervention by the security team attached to Hon. Okojie prevented the attack from escalating.

Two of the armed men reportedly fled the scene, leaving behind the driver and another accomplice. Both are currently in police custody and are being interrogated by officers from the Nigeria Police Force’s Uromi Area Command.

The statement also mentioned that the suspects have made a confessional statement, alleging that they were sent on the mission by certain political figures from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Esan North East Local Government Area. These allegations are yet to be independently verified, and investigations are ongoing.

Law enforcement authorities continue to question the suspects as they work to determine the full details behind the incident.
