Ekiti State Governor Introduces Work-from-Home Policy to Ease Economic Strain on Public Employees

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved a work-from-home arrangement for public employees as part of efforts to mitigate the economic challenges facing the state’s workforce.

In a statement released by the governor’s special adviser on media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, it was announced that officers on levels 01–07 will be allowed to work from home three days a week. Similarly, officers on levels 08–12 will work from home twice a week, while those on levels 13–17 will have one work-from-home day per week.

The new arrangement, which takes effect from Monday, September 9, 2024, will not apply to essential workers, including teachers, core hospital health staff, security personnel, and others. Each Ministry, Department, and Agency (MDA) is required to develop a practical plan to ensure that the work-from-home policy does not hinder effective service delivery.

The policy is initially set to last for two months and will be reviewed periodically based on prevailing circumstances. Governor Oyebanji emphasized that this arrangement does not replace other palliative measures introduced by the state government, such as the free bus service for workers and students, as well as monthly stipends for employees and retirees.

DAILY POSTS reported that the administration pledges to remain committed to the welfare of its employees and will continue implementing necessary measures to enhance their productivity and well-being.
