Federal Civil Servants to Begin Receiving New Minimum Salary Payment this Month

On Thursday, September 26, federal civil servants will begin receiving payments reflecting the new minimum salary.

According to DAILY POST's exclusive interview with Bawa Mokwa, spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

Mokwa revealed that federal employees would start receiving notifications about the new minimum wage payments on Thursday. However, he did not clarify whether these payments would include any arrears from previous months.

He stated: “Federal Government civil servants will start getting the new minimum wage from today (Thursday), September 2024. What I can tell you is that the minimum wage salary payment is today; I am not sure of the arrears.”

On Tuesday, the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission Chairman, Ekpo Nta, announced that the government had approved the upward revision of the CONPSS (Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure) to align with the Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act, 2024.

This adjustment follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's approval of a new minimum wage of N70,000, which was announced on July 18, 2024. Subsequently, the Senate enacted the revised minimum wage bill into law.
