Federal Government Declares September 16 Public Holiday for Eid-Maulud Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, a public holiday in observance of Eid-Maulud, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. The announcement was made in a statement released on Friday in Abuja by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

According to Ajani, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended his congratulations to Muslims across Nigeria and in the Diaspora on this significant occasion. Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians and the Muslim Ummah to embody resilience, patience, and selflessness in their daily lives.

The minister urged the Muslim community to use this time to pray for enduring peace and a more prosperous nation, emphasizing the importance of unity and spiritual reflection during the celebration.
