NECO Releases 2024 SSCE Results, Blacklists Schools and Supervisors for Exam Malpractice
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2024 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) internal results. Professor Dantani Wushishi, NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, shared this update during a press conference at NECO headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday.
In his address, Professor Wushishi also disclosed that NECO has de-recognized a school in Ekiti State and blacklisted 21 supervisors across 12 states due to their involvement in widespread cheating during the exams. The malpractice reportedly occurred in two core subjects and one scientific subject.
Wushishi explained, “It was recommended that the supervisors be blacklisted for reasons ranging from incompetence, intoxication, extortion, absconding, and poor oversight during the examination process.”
He further revealed that 40 schools in 17 states were implicated in whole-school mass cheating. These schools have been invited to meet with the council to discuss the violations, after which appropriate sanctions will be enforced.
NECO continues to uphold high standards of integrity in Nigeria’s examination system and is committed to taking necessary actions against any misconduct.
