Nigerian Air Force Begins Airlift of Relief Supplies for Maiduguri Flood Victims

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced airlift missions to deliver relief supplies to flood victims in Maiduguri and the surrounding areas.

In a statement by Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, it was revealed that the relief materials, donated by the Nigerian Customs Service, are aimed at alleviating the suffering caused by the floods. The disaster has disrupted daily lives, destroyed properties, and displaced millions.

Using the NAF C-130 Hercules aircraft, the first batch of supplies, including 300 bags of 50 kg of rice, was successfully delivered to the NAF Base in Maiduguri. These supplies will be distributed door-to-door to affected households in the coming days.

In addition to the airlift mission, the NAF has also provided meals for over 2,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) and initiated a medical outreach program to assist flood victims.

The statement noted that these efforts are part of a broader initiative to support national disaster response plans, underscoring the critical role military resources play in humanitarian emergencies.

"The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has instructed that these operations continue as needed. The NAF will ensure that both relief materials and medical aid reach all affected areas, while continuing to collaborate with other security agencies to mobilize resources for the support of flood victims," the statement added.
