Nigerian Journalist Ajibade Owefoso Passes Away

Ajibade Owefoso, a well-known Nigerian journalist and Trust TV correspondent from Imo State has passed away in his sleep. He was discovered dead in his Lagos apartment over the weekend.

Daily Trust reported that Owefoso’s death was discovered on Saturday morning, September 7, when neighbors broke down his door after receiving no response to their repeated knocks.

Owefoso is survived by his wife and three children, who live in Imo State. Recently, he buried his father-in-law in Imo State, where numerous organizations, including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapter, showed their support.

In response to the news, Ibrahim Shehu Adamu, Chief Operating Officer of Trust TV, paid tribute to Owefoso, describing him as a vibrant and dedicated journalist whose passion and hard work brought stories to life.

“His sudden passing is a profound loss to all of us at Trust TV, and his vibrant presence will be deeply missed. Ajibade’s journalistic excellence and engaging reporting style made him a valuable member of our team,” Adamu said.

“His stand-ups brought stories to life, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. We mourn his untimely passing."

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State also paid tribute, describing Owefoso as a dedicated, industrious, and principled journalist who maintained high standards in his profession.

The governor extended his deepest sympathies to Owefoso’s young family and elderly mother during this difficult time.
