PDP Suspends Senator Dino Melaye Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities in Kogi State

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has suspended Senator Dino Melaye over allegations of anti-party activities and misconduct.

The decision was made by the Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 party executive committee, following a review of a report from the disciplinary committee tasked with investigating Melaye’s actions.

In a letter signed by Ward Secretary Yodson Dayo and Ward Chairman Abayomi Osamika, the committee stated that the senator's conduct had brought "embarrassment and disrepute" to the party, and his continued membership was deemed untenable.

The letter reads, “Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party, and his continued membership is no longer tenable. Therefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective immediately."

The suspension is said to be in accordance with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which empowers the ward executive committee to take disciplinary actions against members who engage in actions deemed contrary to party principles.
