Rufai Oseni Criticizes Rising Fuel Prices, Highlights Struggles of Nigerians Earning N400k-N600k

Journalist Rufai Oseni has raised concerns over the rising cost of living in Nigeria, particularly for Lagos residents, who he says are struggling to support families on salaries ranging from N400,000 to N600,000 due to the country's current economic challenges.

During an Arise TV broadcast on Monday morning, Oseni criticized the recent discrepancies in petrol pricing between Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), questioning who might be at fault for the sudden price hikes.

"What is happening with the pricing? Today, Dangote says it sold petrol at one price, and NNPC is saying it carried it at another price. What is going on? Who is trying to take advantage of Nigerians?" Oseni asked.

He expressed frustration with the NNPC's pricing template, pointing out that petrol prices had increased by more than N100 in just one day. He questioned how ordinary Nigerians, who are already struggling financially, would cope with the rising costs.

“The N70,000 minimum wage is already inadequate,” he continued. “I recently did the maths. If you earn N400,000 in this country, you can’t support a family anymore. If you earn N500,000, it’s still not enough. Even at N600,000, you can hardly run a family if you live in Lagos."

Oseni's comments reflect the growing concern over the rising cost of living in Nigeria, particularly in major cities like Lagos, where inflation and high fuel prices are making it increasingly difficult for even middle-class families to make ends meet.
