37-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Torturing Stepchildren in Adamawa State

A 37-year-old woman named Fatima Abubakar has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly torturing her 2-year-old daughter and her young stepchildren. Fatima, who hails from Sanda, Makama B Ward in Yola South LGA, is accused of abusing the children to the point where they were forced to urinate and defecate in their room.

The incident came to light following Fatima's arrest on Saturday, October 5. She is reportedly married to the children's father but has not had any children of her own with him. Fatima allegedly physically assaulted the children and later confessed to the crime.

According to neighbors, the woman frequently abused and starved the children, and had even warned others to stop meddling in her family affairs. Concerned about the situation, community members reported the abuse to the authorities.

The arrest was confirmed by the Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who credited the tip-off from the community for Fatima's apprehension. Following the incident, Morris Dankombo, the Commissioner of Police, directed that Fatima be charged and brought to court to face the appropriate charges.
