"A crate of eggs that was less than N1,000 is N10,000 now..."Suswam Raises Concern About the Economic Conditions of the Country

Gabriel Suswam, a former governor of Benue State, has expressed concern over the current economic challenges in Nigeria, highlighting how even basic necessities have become unaffordable. According to Suswam, a crate of eggs that previously cost less than N1,000 now costs as much as N10,000, making it difficult for ordinary Nigerians to afford.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily, the senator called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently convene a meeting to reassess his economic team. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of economic policies to address the hardships faced by the populace.

Suswam also pointed out the difficulties Nigerians encounter in commuting to work, stressing that many people can no longer afford transportation. He stated, "A crate of eggs that was less than N1,000 is N10,000 now. So it means that me and you can’t afford to eat eggs in our houses. I left government for almost 10 years. The President should call a meeting not just on economics; people cannot transport themselves to their offices, people cannot afford to feed their families."
