Obasanjo Warns: "Nigeria Has Become a Graveyard for Unfinished Policies"

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has raised concerns about the country's policy landscape, stating that Nigeria has become a "graveyard for unfinished policies," which has hindered its development. Speaking at an event in Abuja yesterday, Obasanjo emphasized that the inability of Nigeria's leaders to effectively implement policies is causing the nation to move "three steps backward and one step forward."

Obasanjo highlighted that while Nigeria has the necessary policies for progress, the failure to execute them is holding the country back. He argued that leaders should not only create policies or make statements but must also take concrete actions to achieve meaningful progress.

"It is not enough for leaders to have policies or make statements. We are not short of policies in Nigeria," said Obasanjo. "Unfortunately, Nigeria has become a burial ground of policies that are either unimplemented or unexecuted."

He further stated, "Those who make progress achieved progress not on the basis of wishing to make progress, but on taking actions. They do not take two steps forward and three steps backward. Regrettably, this is what we are doing in every aspect of our national life. And as long as we are doing things this way, progress will elude us."
