President Tinubu Launches 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Fund, Praises Military's Dedication to National Security
President Bola Tinubu has launched the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal Fund, an initiative honoring the Armed Forces as Nigeria's primary defenders. At the brief ceremony held in the Council Chambers of the State House on Tuesday, Tinubu commended the military for their unwavering commitment to addressing national security challenges.
The President emphasized that security is a prerequisite for peace and prosperity, highlighting the military's crucial role in preserving Nigeria's unity, stability, and progress. "The military’s patriotic dedication remains invaluable," he stated.
George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, announced a government contribution of N500 million, acknowledging the sacrifices of fallen heroes for Nigeria’s security. Representing the National Assembly, Senate President Godswill Akpabio pledged an additional N200 million.
In support, Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa, speaking on behalf of the service chiefs and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, declared a contribution of N50 million.
