Anambra Community Tensions Rise Following Fatal Shooting at Police Checkpoint

A young man tragically lost his life in Anambra State following an encounter with a police officer from the Otuocha Area Command. According to reports, the incident occurred after an altercation over N100 at a checkpoint in the Anambra East Local Government Area.

A source from Aguleri, Anambra East, informed our correspondent of the incident, noting that the incident has led to significant tension within the community, with residents expressing concern over the police’s actions.

In response to inquiries, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed that the command is aware of the incident and has taken control of the situation. “The officer involved has been identified as Inspector Sani Suleiman. He has been disarmed and is currently detained for further investigation and internal disciplinary actions,” Ikenga stated.

The community remains watchful as investigations continue, and the command has assured the public of due process.
