British Supermodel Georgina Cooper Passes Away at 46 in Greece, Tributes Pour In for a 'Ray of Light

Only months after being married, British model Georgina Cooper tragically died on a Greek island. Cooper, 46, became quite unwell while on vacation with her new husband, Nigel, on the island of Kos. As things became worse, physicians called for an air ambulance to take her to Crete so she could get better treatment. After being brought to critical care, she spent five days there before dying. Last week, her body was sent back to England.

Dean Goodman, her former agent, shared the sad news with MailOnline, saying, “She loved Greece and told me that she was going back with her new husband — but she has tragically d!ed there a fortnight ago. Georgina had been unwell during Covid and had developed some health problems and had been in and out of hospital. But she had plans for the future. She had just married and was looking forward to her life. Everybody is devastated. She was a genuine superstar.”

Georgina’s modeling career began when she was noticed by an agency at just 13. She made her breakthrough at 15 when she appeared in a Bon Jovi music video. Throughout the 1990s, she rose to prominence, earning the nickname "the original gap-toothed girl" for London. She worked for top fashion brands and graced the covers of The Face and US Vogue.

Later in life, Georgina stepped away from the runway to focus on raising her son, Sonny. Most recently, she worked in the hospitality sector in Kent. In early June 2024, she married in a tavern close to her home in Maidstone, Kent, where she and Nigel celebrated their reception.

According to Goodman, Cooper “tragically d!ed” on the Greek island at the end of October after health struggles that began during the pandemic. The modeling community, including friends Jade Parfitt, Erin O’Connor, Jodie Kidd, and Helena Christensen, have since paid tribute to her. They described her as a "ray of light" with "huge achievements in the industry."

Friend and fellow model Jade Parfitt told MailOnline: “Her friends and family are absolutely devastated. Georgina was a ray of light, a very popular model who was riotous fun, always laughing and being naughty in all the best ways. We all wanted to hang out with George backstage. Her achievements in the industry were huge.”
