Edo State House Approves N485 Billion Supplemental Budget for Governor Okpebholo’s Administration

On Monday, the Edo State House of Assembly approved a revised supplemental budget of N485 billion for the state government under Governor Monday Okpebholo. During the plenary session, the Assembly also vetted and approved Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole as the state's new Health Commissioner.

House Speaker Blessing Agbebaku announced that the amended Appropriations Bill would enable Governor Okpebholo to advance the state’s development projects. Under the revised budget, N283.087 billion is allocated for capital expenditures, while N202.54 billion is set for recurrent expenses.

Previously, on May 22, 2024, the Assembly authorized a supplemental budget of N409.2 billion for former Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration. This was an increase from the original 2024 budget, which had been adjusted in February to N342.8 billion.

A month before the September 2024 gubernatorial election, Obaseki presented another revised supplemental budget of N450 billion, which the House passed in August. Governor Okpebholo’s recent revision further increases the budget by N36 billion, totaling N486 billion.

This budget approval reflects the Assembly’s support for ongoing development projects and a smooth fiscal transition in the state’s governance
