Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell Vows to Stay in Position Following Trump’s Election Win
Following Donald Trump's victory in the recent U.S. presidential election, Jay Powell, the chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve, has vowed not to resign from his position. Powell made it clear that even if Trump were to ask him to step down, he would not comply.
Powell’s remarks came during a press conference held after Trump was declared the winner. When a reporter asked if he would leave his post if requested by Trump, Powell firmly responded with a "no."
In a closely watched race, Republican candidate Donald Trump successfully reclaimed the presidency, defeating Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump secured 295 electoral college votes, surpassing Harris’s 226.
