Jibrin Confident in National Assembly’s Approval of Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills
Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, a member of the House of Representatives, has expressed confidence that the National Assembly will pass the Tax Reform Bills submitted by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on TVC’s Politics Today program on Sunday evening, Jibrin dismissed concerns raised by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), which had urged local federal lawmakers to oppose the Bills just a day earlier.
Jibrin, who chairs the House of Representatives’ Housing and Habitat Committee, lauded President Tinubu’s tax reform efforts, describing them as necessary for Nigeria’s future economic stability.
“Tinubu is sacrificing his today for the future of Nigerians with his tax reform legislation and other economic initiatives,” Jibrin stated.
The lawmaker expressed certainty about the Bills’ approval, emphasizing their importance in advancing the administration’s economic agenda:
“I have never had any doubt about the consideration and passage of the Tax Reform Bills. We will pass the tax reform bills.”
The Tax Reform Bills are part of President Tinubu’s broader economic policies aimed at restructuring Nigeria’s fiscal system. However, they have faced opposition from groups like the NEF, which argue that the reforms could place undue burdens on citizens. Despite this, Jibrin’s remarks signal strong legislative backing for the President’s economic strategy.
