Pharrell Responds After Drake Bought His Old Jewelry for $3.3 Million and Hinted at Burning Them
Grammy Award-winning musician and producer Pharrell Williams recently shared his perspective on selling his jewelry collection, a move that later drew public attention from fellow artist Drake. In an interview with GG Magazine on Wednesday, November 13, Pharrell spoke candidly about his decision to auction off the items in 2022.
“You never realize how much all the stuff you have weighs on you, but it does. You don’t know it until you get rid of it,” he reflected. “When you let that go, man, you feel so free.”
When asked about Drake’s interest in the collection and his comments about potentially melting the jewelry down, Pharrell responded with composure. “[B]eyond all of the on-goings, at the heart of all of it, he’s a fan of music,” Pharrell noted. “He’s a fan of the history of what it is, and I happen to be a part of that, and those artifacts are a part of it.”
The jewelry, which includes a skateboard pendant chain, a white gold brain pendant chain, and a 14K three-tone N.E.R.D. pendant chain, reportedly cost Drake around $3.3 million. Fans noted him wearing it in his "Jumbotron Shit Poppin" video.
