Presidency Refutes 'Cabal' Claims: Tinubu’s Adviser Says President Fully in Charge of Governance
Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Communication and Orientation, has refuted claims of a "cabal" operating within Nigeria's presidency, affirming that President Bola Tinubu maintains full control over governance.
During an appearance on Channels TV, Dare explained that the term "cabal" is often misused to describe key officials who frequently meet with the president due to the significance of their roles. He noted that these individuals serve as crucial advisors, providing essential data for decision-making.
“I think we’ve become so comfortable with the idea of the cabal,” Dare said. “The people they call the cabal are holding the key sectors of the economy. These are people who are advisors, who must advise the president on trends, who must put critical data in front of him, and they have access to him.”
Dare cited the Minister of Finance, who regularly briefs President Tinubu with economic indicators and data. “They must have constant meetings,” he added.
Highlighting the president’s authority, Dare referenced Tinubu’s decision to cancel the Central Bank’s cybersecurity fee, stating, “The President is 100 per cent in charge and has always been from day one. When the CBN cybersecurity tax came up, the president canceled it because he dealt with what the facts are.”
