President Tinubu Heads to Saudi Arabia for Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on Middle East Crisis

On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu will depart Nigeria for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the upcoming Joint Arab-Islamic Summit. The summit will primarily address the current situation in the Middle East.

The presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, announced the trip on Saturday, noting that the summit will commence on Monday, November 11, 2024.

“The summit, held at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, follows last year’s gathering in Riyadh,” the statement read.

President Tinubu is expected to address the Israel-Palestine conflict during the summit, advocating Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution. Nigeria will also push for renewed efforts toward the two-state solution as a pathway to long-term peace.

Accompanying the President are Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Advisor; Amb. Mohammed Mohammed, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA); and Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation.
